Bottega Veneta is making waves this fall with the launch of its first fragrance collection under the vision of Creative Director Matthieu Blazy. Rooted in the brand’s Venetian heritage and inspired by its iconic Intrecciato leather weave, these new scents pay homage to the city’s legacy as a cultural crossroads.
Blazy drew from Venice’s history as a melting pot, blending ingredients from all over the world to create five unique fragrances. Just as the city once connected distant lands, these perfumes weave together natural essences from different continents, sparking the senses and igniting the imagination.
“Colpo di Sole” brings the warmth of the Mediterranean sun to life, mixing calming French angelica oil with sensual orange blossom from Morocco. “Come with Me” offers a fresh and elegant vibe, combining zesty Italian bergamot with the soft, powdery notes of French orris butter. “Acqua Sale” evokes the feeling of salty sea air on your skin, blending woody labdanum from Spain with juniper oil from Macedonia. For something sophisticated and alluring, “Déjà Minuit” pairs Madagascar geranium with spicy Guatemalan cardamom. And “Alchemie” serves up a luxurious mix of Brazilian pink pepper and precious myrrh from Somalia.
Since taking the helm, Blazy has emphasized the importance of touch at Bottega Veneta—both in the materials used and the handcrafted techniques that define the brand’s unique style. These fragrances are no exception; they truly come alive when they meet your skin. As you move through your day, the scent evolves with you, intertwining its rich notes with your personal story.
The bottles are a sensory experience in themselves, embodying the essence of Venice and the brand’s artisanal roots. With a fluid, wavy design, the translucent glass nods to the city’s lagoon and the supple leather shapes that Bottega Veneta is famous for. Holding one feels smooth and sensual, highlighting the brand’s focus on the tactile as much as the olfactory.
Each bottle features unique air bubbles, thanks to an innovative process that recreates the look of mouth-blown glass. This detail pays tribute to the centuries-old tradition of Murano glassblowing—a craft Blazy recently spotlighted in his Winter 24 show. What might be considered imperfections become a signature feature, making every bottle one of a kind.
Resting on a base of green Verde Saint Denis marble—the same stone used in Blazy’s store designs—the bottle is literally elevated, echoing the marble elements found in Venetian architecture. The sculptural wooden cap is a nod to the wooden stilts that support Venice’s grand palazzos. Each cap sports a distinct color for each fragrance, inspired by modern Venetian design, along with an engraved metallic ring.
Designed to be more than just a container, the bottle is refillable and made with sustainable materials, completely free of plastic. It’s a keepsake that captures the spirit of Bottega Veneta and the timeless allure of Venice—a perfect blend of tradition and modernity that’s meant to last.
