Miu Miu unveils its fifth iteration of the Miu Miu Upcycled collection 2024, shining a spotlight on denim, renowned for its enduring appeal and the distinctive patina it acquires over time. This choice of material is emblematic, weaving tales of both its own history and its wearer’s journeys.
Launched in 2020, the Miu Miu Upcycled initiative is a celebration of vintage fashion’s intrinsic value and a champion of sustainable design practices, underscoring the luxury of heritage and its timeless allure.
This collection is crafted with meticulous attention, sourcing authentic garments globally, which are then deconstructed and reimagined. Enhanced with natural suede trims and stark white stitching, these pieces are transformed into relaxed, low-slung jeans, abbreviated scarf tops, and micro-shorts, all maintaining Miu Miu’s iconic silhouette. Reclaimed snappers are reattached, bearing the Miu Miu insignia, while blouson jackets receive a fresh interpretation with shortened forms and suede-bordered zippers.
This year’s campaign, lensed by Tarek Cassim and featuring models Ana Elisa Brito, Wenqing Liu, and Alice McGrath, mirrors the collection’s ethos. The portraits, strategically cut and collaged, emphasize the uniqueness of the Upcycled designs and the dynamic personas of the models adorned in them.
