RRL teams up with Navajo artist and weaver Zefren-M in the latest installment of Ralph Lauren‘s “Artist in Residence” program. This collaboration seamlessly blends traditional Navajo weaving techniques with RRL’s rugged aesthetic, offering a collection that includes apparel, accessories, and a handcrafted floor rug.
At the heart of the collection lies a custom color palette crafted by Zefren-M, drawing inspiration from the vibrant landscapes of the Navajo Nation. Signature pieces like a hand-knit shawl cardigan and a reimagined classic workshirt feature patterns symbolizing life’s cycles and honor the weaving traditions passed down from Zefren-M’s great-grandmother.
Traditional stamped conchos—metal ornaments—adorn several items, each bearing markings that pay homage to Spider Woman, a revered figure in Navajo mythology who taught the art of weaving and creating beauty. “Looking to the past has always been a deep source of inspiration to me and something I convey throughout my art and in my personal style,” says Zefren-M. “Collaborating with the RRL team allowed us to create a unique expression of our shared love of heritage and tradition—all while honoring the stories of the Navajo people.”
To complement the collection, Ralph Lauren has released a short film exploring the creative journey behind the collaboration. Additionally, a selection of handmade silver and turquoise jewelry crafted by silversmith Lyndon Tsosie—under whom Zefren-M previously apprenticed—will be available.
Continuing its commitment to celebrating Indigenous artistry—following a notable partnership with Navajo artist Naiomi Glasses earlier this year—a portion of the proceeds will support the Lyndon Foundation. This native-led organization is dedicated to preserving heritage crafts and empowering Indigenous youth pursuing careers in the arts.
The collection launches on November 7 at select Ralph Lauren and RRL stores across North America, Europe, and Asia. It will be available online in the U.S. and Canada starting November 14, with a digital release in China and Japan on November 18.
