Transparent is introducing its latest creation: the Brutalist Speaker. The Stockholm-based audio brand, celebrated for its striking yet understated designs, has drawn inspiration from brutalist architecture to craft a speaker that’s as much a statement piece as it is a sound system.
Towering at 23.2 inches and weighing a solid 23.2 pounds, the Brutalist Speaker doesn’t just blend into the background—it commands the room. Its bold metal construction, made from 70% post-consumer recycled aluminum, reflects Transparent’s commitment to sustainability and its ambition “to become the first circular tech brand.”
“It is exciting to bring this legendary architectural style into peoples’ homes,” says co-founder and creative director Per Brickstad. The speaker, he adds, exemplifies Transparent’s vision “that audio objects can be both aesthetically striking [and] technically advanced, yet simple to use.”
But the Brutalist Speaker isn’t all about looks. It’s engineered for an immersive audio experience, featuring dual three-inch tweeters angled at 90 degrees to disperse high-frequency sounds with precision. The carefully positioned bass drivers deliver clean, undistorted lows—bass that’s “massive, yet effortless,” according to the brand.
On the tech front, the speaker offers a frequency response of 32Hz to 20kHz and supports hi-res audio up to 192kHz and 24 bits. It’s compatible with popular streaming platforms like Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, and Tidal Connect, and offers seamless wireless connectivity with Bluetooth 5.2 and dual-band Wi-Fi.
Founded in 2012 by Martin Willers, Per Brickstad, and Magnus Wiberg, Transparent has carved out a niche by blending high-fidelity sound with design-forward aesthetics. The Brutalist Speaker is a testament to their philosophy, turning a functional object into a piece of art.
Available now on Transparent’s website, the Brutalist Speaker comes in two finishes—Black and Metal—and is priced at £3,200 GBP, €3,800 EUR, or $4,000 USD. It’s more than a speaker; it’s an invitation to experience sound and design in a whole new way.
