Christopher Simmonds has become an indispensable force in the fashion and design industry, renowned for his distinctive style that enhances the appeal and impact of brands’ advertising campaigns. His pivotal role in the transformative rebranding of Gucci under Alessandro Michele’s creative leadership has been widely acclaimed, marking a significant chapter in the luxury fashion house’s history. Additionally, Simmonds’ innovative overhaul of Dazed and Confused in 2010, during his tenure as the magazine’s creative director, has earned him considerable praise.

Hailing from Birmingham in the 1980s, Simmonds’ upbringing was steeped in the city’s vibrant counter-culture, a dynamic influence that continues to resonate through his work. His journey in the fashion industry began with a move to London to pursue fashion promotion at Central St Martins, where his final project, a men’s magazine titled ‘He-Man’, quickly sold out. After completing several internships in fashion magazines, Simmonds embarked on his professional journey as an art director at Martin Jacobs in London, quickly catching the eye of Lane Crawford, which commissioned him to art direct a campaign.

In 2009, Simmonds established his own creative design studio, specializing in fashion and editorial across various platforms. His impressive client roster includes J.W. Anderson, Alexander McQueen, and Alexander Wang, showcasing his versatility through social media campaigns, website redesigns, window displays, and store designs.

Fulfilling a long-held dream, Simmonds was appointed the creative director of Dazed and Confused in 2010, reimagining it as a bimonthly publication, a role from which he has since stepped down.

In a collaborative venture with British Vogue stylist Francesca Burns, Simmonds co-founded the independent magazine, Print, in 2016. This project further exemplifies his commitment to pushing the boundaries of fashion editorial, solidifying his status as a visionary creative director and art director at the heart of modern fashion’s evolving landscape.
