Isamaya Ffrench, a trailblazer in the beauty industry, has transcended her beginnings as a part-time face painter to become a leading figure in the world of makeup artistry. Serving as Dazed Beauty’s inaugural creative director and the global makeup ambassador for Christian Louboutin Beauté, Ffrench’s work is synonymous with creativity and innovation. Her portfolio boasts collaborations with some of the most distinguished magazines and designers in fashion, where she continues to captivate audiences with her artistic masterpieces and unconventional storytelling.
Originating from Cambridge, Ffrench moved to London at 18 to immerse herself in 3D design at Chelsea College of Arts, followed by a stint at Central Saint Martins focusing on Product and Industrial Design. Her career, which began with face painting at children’s parties, quickly evolved as she honed her skills, working alongside celebrated photographers such as David Sims, Mert and Marcus for prestigious publications including Interview Magazine, Dazed Magazine, and Vogue Italia.
Ffrench’s background in illustration and her artistic education underpin her unique approach to makeup, blending her capacity for visual storytelling with innovative beauty concepts. This distinctive approach has secured her editorials in W Magazine, British Vogue, and Love Magazine, to name a few. She has also lent her talents to celebrities like Rihanna, Fergie, Kim Kardashian, and Miley Cyrus, and contributed to the runway magic of shows like Iris Van Herpen Couture.
Beyond her makeup artistry, Ffrench’s creative prowess extends to designing window displays, notably for Liberty of London during London Fashion Week 2013. After serving as the beauty editor for i-D Magazine in 2014 and a subsequent ambassador role for YSL Beauté in 2015, Ffrench expanded her influence by joining Tom Ford Beauty as a Creative Artist Consultant in 2016. Her appointment as Dazed Beauty’s creative director in 2018 and her role with Christian Louboutin Beauté in 2019 further cement her status as an influential voice in beauty.
A member of the London-based Theo Adams Company and represented by Streeters London, Ffrench’s multifaceted career reflects her unwavering dedication to pushing the boundaries of beauty and art, making her a formidable force in the contemporary fashion and makeup landscape.
