Since being spotlighted as the “One to Watch” by the British Journal of Photography in 2014, Jack Davison has ascended to become a pivotal voice in the photography world, securing commissions from prestigious publications like The New York Times Magazine, AnOther, Garage, and FT Magazine. His distinctive voice and visual style have marked him as a significant figure in contemporary photography.

Davison, originally from Essex in Southeast England, once dreamt of a career as a marine biologist before photography captivated his imagination at the age of 15. Utilizing his family’s Canon camera and sharing his work on Flickr, he nurtured his burgeoning talent outside the conventional photography education paths. Opting for an English Literature degree at Warwick University, Davison honed his now-signature monochrome and starkly lit portrait style, which marries spontaneity with a deep, narrative-driven approach.

His post-university journey took him across the US for six months, during which he documented the faces and stories encountered in a series titled “26 States.” This project would become a pivotal moment, catapulting his career upon his return to London. Davison’s work has since graced the pages of British Vogue, AnOther, Purple, and i-D, showcasing his versatile and compelling approach to photography.

Davison’s collaboration with Alexander McQueen’s McQ for their Spring/Summer 2016 and Autumn/Winter 2016 collections marked a significant milestone, extending his reach into the fashion industry. His commercial portfolio now includes work for renowned brands such as John Galliano, Hermès, Burberry, Craig Green, and Moncler, further establishing his place as a sought-after talent for capturing the essence of contemporary fashion and beyond.
