Tyrone Lebon, a London-born photographer and filmmaker, has carved out a distinctive niche within the fashion world with his authentic, sunlight-drenched imagery. His unique perspective caught the attention of Phoebe Philo, making him the only photographer aside from Juergen Teller to be commissioned for a Céline campaign (Resort 2015). Lebon’s work often explores the beauty in imperfection, challenging conventional perceptions of aesthetics.

In 2014, Lebon collaborated with i-D’s senior fashion editor Julia Sarr Jamois on the groundbreaking “Nothing Is Beautiful” nude shoot, further establishing his penchant for raw, unfiltered beauty. His portfolio boasts campaigns and editorials for an impressive roster of brands, including Louis Vuitton, Loewe, Supreme, and Nike, with his initial foray into fashion campaigns starting with Calvin Klein Jeans for the Autumn/Winter 2013 season.

Lebon’s journey into photography began in his teenage years, capturing moments with his friends, and extended into filmmaking with a surfing documentary shot in Indonesia at the age of 18, which was featured on MTV. His documentary, “Reely and Truly,” premiered at London’s Institute for Contemporary Art, offering an intimate look into the lives and works of celebrated photographers like Mario Sorrenti, Juergen Teller, and Ari Marcopoulos.

An avid collector and user of a diverse array of film cameras, from large format to grainy half frames, Lebon’s signature hazy style emerged serendipitously from an accidental exposure of his film to daylight. Embracing this aesthetic, he meticulously manipulates his images’ processing to recreate this distinct effect.

Lebon’s passion for photography has also led him to self-publish a book, “Nothing Lasts Forever,” and collaborate with Baron magazine on a print project. His commitment to the craft inspired the creation of DoBeDo, a photography organization that not only promotes the work of selected photographers but also fosters a community for sharing techniques and insights, underscoring Lebon’s role not just as a creator but as a curator and mentor within the photography world.
