Carven

Carven, established in 1945 by French designer Marie-Louise Carven, emerged as a distinctive fashion house catering to petite women—a market often overlooked by haute couture at the time. Marie-Louise, standing at 5’1″, founded the brand to address the lack of elegant clothing options for women of smaller stature. Her innovative approach included the use of lightweight fabrics like lace and pink gingham, and she was among the first couturiers to introduce prêt-à-porter (ready-to-wear) collections, making high fashion more accessible. Carven also gained recognition for designing uniforms for various organizations, including airlines such as Air France and Air India.
