Gucci Spring 2025: Sunset Hues and ’60s Silhouettes

By Alexei Key

“A precise moment in time. A moment to seize and live to the fullest. It’s the moment the sun dives into the sea at the end of an August day. It’s the moment we find ourselves. This collection is a tribute to those moments, and an invitation to stop, seek your own moment.” Sabato De Sarno.

Gucci‘s Spring 2025 show wasn’t just about fashion—it was a journey through color and time. In a continued partnership with Milan’s Triennale Museum, the brand transformed the space into a vibrant corridor that mirrored the hues of a summer sunset. Starting from pristine white and culminating in the signature Gucci Rosso Ancora, each room offered a unique, fleeting experience.

“A year later, this collection shows an accomplished journey of construction. Moment after moment, I have built my ideas for Gucci. A casual grandeur that takes shape through my obsessions—tailoring, lingerie, leather, 60’s silhouettes, all combined with the tireless exploration of the heritage of this brand—and always with an irreverent attitude,” Sabato De Sarno reflected.

The collection kicked off with sharp tailoring that blurred gender lines—trousers casually draped over sneakers, merging wardrobes. The ’60s made a strong comeback with structured jackets, shorts, and A-line skirts. Colors ranged from greys and greens to pops of orange, all anchored by Gucci Rosso Ancora.

Grand coats with a couture essence revitalized the GG Monogram, effortlessly thrown over denim and tanks. Glossy leather pieces, now ingrained in Gucci’s DNA, added that sleek touch. Lingerie elements subtly peeked through lace dresses and slightly open coats, hinting at understated sensuality.

Heritage was front and center. The iconic Gucci Bamboo 1947 bag reappeared, staying true to its original design while embracing new, contemporary details crafted from leather, lacquer, and Plexiglas. Bamboo motifs extended to jewelry, wrapping and intertwining around the body, complementing flowing jersey dresses inspired by the ’90s.

Handbags featured bamboo accents, from mini silhouettes to the Gucci 73 bucket bag with a side Horsebit. The new Gucci Go bag—structured and compact—promised versatility. Celebrating 60 years in Japan, exclusive Gucci Bamboo 1947 bags reimagined by Japanese artists made their runway debut.

Footwear paid homage to the Horsebit, evolving from classic loafers to platforms, creepers, ballerinas, and ankle boots. The standout was a soft, enveloping flat boot with a ’60s vibe, paired with wrap-around sunglasses sporting gradient lenses that matched the collection’s palette.

Closing the show, the Gucci Flora foulard was tied elegantly as a headscarf. Staying true to Vittorio Accornero de Testa’s original design—nine bouquets on a white background with a contrasting frame—it was reinterpreted in tone-on-tone hues reflecting the season’s colors.

Gucci continues to weave its identity with art, design, and contemporary culture, reaffirming its commitment to open and inclusive dialogue. This collection isn’t just about clothing; it’s an invitation to pause and find your own moment.
