LOEWE has unveiled an intriguing collaboration with Lynda Benglis, a trailblazer in the post-war American art scene. Their latest venture brings an artful twist to high fashion with a jewelry line presented during the Spring Summer 2024 women’s show in Paris. This collection comprises twenty pieces, each designed to embody the essence of wearable art, echoing the distinctive styles of Benglis — renowned for her innovative manipulation of knotted, pleated, and extruded forms.
Crafted in Benglis’s Santa Fe studio, the original designs were shaped using unconventional materials like foil, mesh, clay, wire, and polyurethane, now meticulously reimagined into luxurious items such as rings, cuffs, brooches, earrings, and pendants. These pieces are crafted from a mix of 18ct gold, sterling silver, aluminum, enamel, and crystal, offering a diverse and rich tactile experience.
Benglis, born in 1941, has consistently pushed the boundaries of sculptural art over her extensive career spanning six decades. Her work with materials ranging from latex to bronze has persistently questioned and expanded the definitions of sculpture. This collaboration translates her dynamic sculptures into jewelry that interacts with the human form, designed to adapt and transform with the wearer’s movement, thus reflecting the ever-evolving nature of both art and fashion.
This exclusive collection is set to hit stores and will be available on loewe.com. For those in the US, the launch will take place at Bergdorf Goodman on May 6. It will be featured in a specially designed pop-up in the store’s Luxury Room and will also grace the iconic windows on Fifth Avenue, promising a spectacular display of this artistic partnership.
