Bose has introduced its first new wired earbuds since 2015, the $99 Bose Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds, with active noise cancellation and a USB-C connection. A 4.2-foot cable connects them to a compatible phone, tablet or computer.
There is no internal battery to recharge, and listening requires neither Bluetooth pairing nor an app. Noise cancellation draws from the connected device’s battery. Bose notes that switching cancellation off reduces that consumption, so the convenience comes from removing a separate charging task while keeping the audio source responsible for supplying electricity.
The inline remote handles volume, playback and calls through physical buttons, with a dedicated microphone on its back. Holding the multifunction button cycles through three listening modes: Quiet reduces surrounding noise, Aware lets outside sound through, and ANC Off disables active cancellation. Bose’s QuietControl system uses four microphones, two in each earbud, to monitor surrounding sound.
Black earbuds come with blue accents, while White Smoke pairs with lime green. A limited-edition Dewdrop Mint completes the three-color lineup. Silicone tips come in three sizes, with two sizes of removable stability wings to adjust the fit. Listeners can also wear the earbuds without the wings. The earbuds carry an IPX4 water-resistance rating and include a zippered storage case.

Bose announced preorders through its website and Best Buy on September 28, with shipping scheduled to begin October 15. The US price is $99 across the three colors.
