The supermodel’s creative director debut showcases flip-flops in nostalgic, sunset-infused prints just in time for summer.

Gigi Hadid’s latest role sees the model stepping into Havaianas’ creative helm for a new capsule collection. Earlier this year, Hadid signed on as the Brazilian flip-flop brand’s global ambassador, and now she’s parlayed that beachy passion into a hands-on collaboration as creative director of her own Havaianas line. The capsule’s campaign is a retro dreamscape where vintage pin-up glamour is transported to a beach setting. Ever the self-proclaimed “beach kid,” Hadid teased the partnership with bikini-clad, old-Hollywood-inspired images. “My 15-year-old self would be jumping up and down” about this project, the model said of getting to put her personal touch on such an iconic brand.


The Gigi Hadid x Havaianas capsule celebrates the spirit of summer through four distinct flip-flop designs. Hadid was deeply involved in shaping each pair, reimagining Havaianas’ classic Top and chic Slim Square silhouettes with her own flair. The flip-flops feature sunset-hued prints of ocean waves and dreamy skyscapes in soft orange, yellow, lilac, blue and green – a palette straight out of a vintage postcard. Hadid’s signature also appears on every sole, and the packaging doubles down on the pin-up theme – each pair comes in a retro-illustrated box complete with beachy motifs, a custom hanger, and a collectible postcard.



Fast forward to last night’s New York City launch, where Hadid celebrated her flip-flop debut with an intimate bash in SoHo. Despite the downpour, we watched the 30-year-old designer-turned-party-host make a grand entrance at Altro Paradiso, umbrella in hand and dressed to theme. She styled a white tweed Marc Jacobs mini dress (studded all over with candy-colored crystals) with a pair of butter-yellow Havaianas on her feet. Even her beauty look tied back to the capsule’s vintage inspiration – she wore her newly cropped bob in a curled, old-Hollywood wave and sported a sun-kissed glow with a glossy coral lip. Inside, the guest list was star-studded – Olivia Palermo and Brazilian TV personality Sabrina Sato were among those toasting Hadid’s latest venture. And for fans at home, Havaianas sweetened the launch with a one-day online sale, pricing its flip-flops at just $15 to mark the occasion.
