Bjork wore custom Mugler by creative director Miguel Castro Freitas for a DJ set in Bielsko-Biała, Poland, on October 4, following their collaboration on the house’s Spring/Summer 2027 show, Naturalia X. Castro Freitas says: “The collaboration with Björk felt instinctive, an organic extension of the Naturalia X universe.”

My ongoing partnership of many years with Teho Teardo on the soundtracks of each show is always a deeply personal collaboration. The inclusion of Björk’s Öll Birtan, written in a language of her own creation, evokes a sense of rebirth and a return to the primordial instincts that defines us.

Styled by Edda Guðmundsdóttir, she paired a purple butterfly-print second-skin top with a black leather corseted, high-waisted skirt. A fringed feather headpiece from Thierry Mugler’s Les Insectes Haute Couture Spring/Summer 1997 collection completed the look. The combination gave Björk’s style a direct connection to Mugler’s insect imagery, with the black leather lending the delicate butterfly print a harder edge.

Castro Freitas explains the collection’s premise: “Naturalia X explores the tension between nature and technology, the artificial and the primal, and the animal instincts that exist within us all.”

Casper Sejersen reworked excerpts from her “Venus as a Boy” and “Possibly Maybe” music videos for screens throughout the show venue. Freitas describes the significance of their placement: “Beginning and ending with Björk’s voice and visuals reflects the cyclical nature of existence and the interconnectedness of nature and humanity.”

In Poland, the appearance coincided with the opening weekend of Björk: Ancestress, Sorrowful Soil & Nerve Bloom (remix). On view through October 25, the exhibition presents three audiovisual installations across Bielsko-Biała.
