Launched in the spring of 2024, Beyond Noise is the biannual women’s title that—despite entering a market long oversaturated and frequently declared terminal—managed to assert itself with remarkable clarity. Its editor-in-chief, Sarah Richardson, has ticked all the conventional boxes: the top models (Alex Consani, Vittoria Ceretti, Mona Tougaard, Gigi Hadid), the requisite artists (Isabelle Albuquerque, Catherine Opie, Nadia Lee Cohen), and the increasingly omnipresent crossover talent (Teyana Taylor, Monica Barbaro, Ayo Edebiri, Margaret Qualley). But Beyond Noise doesn’t linger there. What sets it apart is its ability to fold the old guard of image-making—Slimane, Vanderperre, McDean, Teller, Sims, Sorrenti (both Mario and Gray)—into the same editorial gesture as those shaping the next wave, without forcing the conversation.

While the format—two volumes nestled in a slipcase—already signals a deliberate break from convention, Issue 3 returns to the idea of the supplement, first introduced with Juergen Teller in the magazine’s inaugural issue. This time, it’s David Sims, and what emerges is not fashion in its usual posture, but a personal, introspective offering in the form of an 80-page art supplement. Not quite retrospective, not entirely diaristic—just quietly, resolutely his.

In her own words, Richardson says of the collaboration:

“I’ve long admired David’s work, both as an artist and in the world of fashion. His creative sensibility consistently captures the spirit of the moment, deeply rooted in the ethos of the underground music scene. The results are invariably iconic—cool, compelling, and unmistakably his own.

With this in mind, inviting David to collaborate with Beyond Noise felt like a natural evolution. The supplement began as a concept for a portable art exhibition, a platform where renowned artists are given complete freedom to explore and express their personal visions through exclusive works. David’s aesthetic aligns seamlessly with the contemporary identity of Beyond Noise, making him an ideal choice for this edition.”
