Balenciaga’s Spring 2026 collection arrives as a self-portrait of Demna’s decade at the house—one part archive, one part personal wardrobe, all filtered through the sharp lens of Ari Versluis and Ellie Uyttenbroek’s “Exactitudes.” “This collection embodies the multitude of design codes that have been part of my creative vision and research on fashion at Balenciaga for a decade,” Demna notes. He lifted garments from 35 past seasons, mixed in pieces he wears off-duty, and arranged them into images that echo the duo’s cult typologies. Each frame locks onto an “archetype,” the people and postures that have guided his study of how real clothes live on real bodies.

“Working on this collection felt like a homecoming after all these years, a very formidable experience of love for fashion and dressmaking. My work at Balenciaga and in general has often circled around the anthropology of fashion and dress codes, so this is why I decided to create the imagery of this collection with Ari Versluis and Ellie Uyttenbroek whose ‘Exactitudes’ series have strongly informed my approach to fashion so far,” he adds. The answer to his constant question—where luxury meets day-to-day dress—appears in stacked leather jackets, colossal tailoring, and denim pressed into abrupt square shoulders, seen together for the first time.

The lookbook doubles as a stage for Balenciaga Music | Britney Spears, a limited run of T-shirts, hoodies, silk flags, and pierced-brim caps printed with Rankin and Steven Klein photographs from the singer’s archive. Treated like well-handled tour merch, the pieces land in selected stores and on balenciaga.com on 3 June 2025, the same day a Spears-curated playlist goes live. “I have always loved fashion and was so honored and excited Balenciaga and Demna chose to collaborate with me on Demna’s last collection with the House. I hope my fans love it as much as I do!” she says.

BFRND, who has scored every Balenciaga show since 2017, extends the project with the Britney4ever EP. His remix of “Gimme More,” first heard on the Summer 25 runway, joins a new take on “Oops!… I Did It Again,” released through Sony Music across major platforms. “Britney is a trailblazer, she defined pop music and inspired generations of artists, reworking her legacy is a great honor,” BFRND says.

The retrospective mood goes further. From 26 June to 9 July, Demna will stage “Balenciaga by Demna,” a résumé exhibition inside Kering’s historic Laennec site at 40 rue de Sèvres, Paris. Open to the public by registration, the show gathers key looks, research material, and those now-iconic volumes—an annotated scrapbook of a designer who, for ten years, asked what a contemporary wardrobe could be. In the days that follow, he will present his final couture outing for the house.

For Demna, Spring 26 is both a close-up and a farewell.
