Bottega Veneta is taking a nostalgic turn, celebrating childhood imagination through a new capsule collection inspired by iconic American author and illustrator Richard Scarry. Launching on November 24, the capsule taps into the rich, detailed universe that has made Scarry a household name for generations.
Creative Director Matthieu Blazy pays homage to Scarry’s beloved anthropomorphic characters and the sense of community they evoke. For Blazy, who cites Scarry as a major influence since childhood, the new collection aligns perfectly with the playful spirit seen in his recent Summer 25 show.
At the heart of this collaboration is a reimagined edition of Scarry’s Biggest Word Book Ever. Measuring a hefty 62.5 x 52.5 cm, the book is bound in Bottega Veneta’s signature Intrecciato leather—a nod to both craftsmanship and nostalgia. The edition features Lowly Worm, Scarry’s charming character in a Tyrolean hat, red bowtie, and one iconic shoe—what Blazy calls “The best outfit in the world.”
The capsule extends beyond just books, embracing Scarry’s whimsical color palette and motifs. There’s a matching sketchbook edition with a customizable tag, Intrecciato-striped dust bags, apple-buckled belts, striped wallets, and card holders. Each piece feels like a step into Scarry’s fantastical world, capturing that childlike wonder in true Bottega style.
