JW Anderson is raising a glass to Guinness with his latest capsule collection that just dropped, and it’s the collaboration we didn’t know we needed. After hinting at this unexpected partnership during his Spring/Summer 2025 runway show, the designer has officially unveiled a lineup that playfully intertwines JW Anderson’s contemporary aesthetic with the timeless charm of Guinness’s vintage advertising.
Central to the collection is a fresh take on Guinness’s classic branding. Anderson dives deep into the beer brand’s rich archive, reimagining its iconic wordmarks and nostalgic graphics across a range of sweaters and tees that feel both retro and utterly now.
One standout piece is a sleek black sweatshirt embellished with pearl-embroidered text—a clever nod to the creamy foam atop a perfect pint. Just beneath, a monochrome print features a cheerful face emerging from the froth, resurrecting one of Guinness’s beloved vintage illustrations.
Another highlight is an intarsia-knit sweater showcasing the famed Guinness logo, flanked by bold white appliqués of the Irish harp—a symbol steeped in history for both brands—with JW Anderson’s signature subtly nestled below. The throwback vibe continues with raglan-style t-shirts featuring black panels adorned with retro Guinness ads. One tee brings back the grinning pint alongside classic text graphics, while the other offers a simplified poster print set against a punchy orange backdrop.
Sharing his inspiration behind the collaboration, Jonathan Anderson stated, “I’ve always been obsessed by Guinness and their advertising. I think they are still today one of the greatest advertisers and I liked the idea of using their amazing graphics. There is something about the way in which marketing was used—especially at the turn of the century and how Guinness really pioneered (and still do) how we look and approach advertising. I’ve always wanted to be able to show some of it, because in fashion we think we are so radical but actually they were way before all of that.”
This collection isn’t just about apparel; it’s a meeting of minds between fashion and one of the most influential advertisers in history. By bridging Guinness’s storied past with JW Anderson’s innovative design, the capsule serves up pieces that are both a nod to history and a statement for today.
