Takashi Murakami Steps into Footwear with Ohana Hatake

Takashi Murakami, the artist who turned vivid flower motifs into a global phenomenon, is venturing into footwear with his new brand, Ohana Hatake. Meaning “field of flowers” in Japanese, the brand blossoms from Murakami’s signature aesthetic into something you can literally step into.

After teasing limited-edition releases throughout the year—including a buzzworthy collaboration with BLACKPINK—Ohana Hatake officially debuts with two original designs. The Ohana Full-Bloom slides make a return in fresh shades of “Apricot” and “Raspberry Rose,” available through a raffle on the brand’s website. Joining them is a new silhouette, the Surippa Ohana, set to launch soon in a “Rust” colorway.

Crafted in partnership with footwear experts at VIOLET ST, the collection merges art with wearable design. “I am pursuing an expression that explores the very relationship between American and Japanese cultures,” Murakami shared. “I would love it if those who wear these sandals could sense how this team managed to craft something wonderful out of my quirky, off-the-mark ideas.”
