From rose-lined tracksuits to a reborn Jabbar sneaker, Willy Chavarria’s SS25 link-up with adidas writes a heartfelt note to Chicano style.
Willy Chavarria’s latest adidas Originals collaboration comes into sharp focus. Shot in Los Angeles by Carlos Jaramillo, the campaign puts WNBA legend Candace Parker beside rising guard Skyy Clark and actor Alejandro Speitzer, rooting the collection in images that honour the Chicano stories of South Central.
The line arrives in two waves—May and July—and folds Chavarria’s signature, extra-roomy tailoring into adidas street codes. Black athletic sets run the triple stripe and trefoil in his trademark scarlet, punctuated by rose embroideries that recur throughout his work. A baggy white sweatshirt stands out: red-and-green blocks echo the Mexican flag while an Aztec eagle and a bold “Chicano” sit front and centre, with joint wordmarks stretched across the back.
Footwear looks to 1978: adidas revives the Jabbar basketball model as the Chavarria Jabbar Low for the court and the Jabbar Dress for off-court hours—both shaped by the designer’s eye for proportion.
“adidas’ place in Chicano culture is a bit of an untold story,” Chavarria said in a statement issued by the brand. “I love sharing this iconic brand in a way that reflects how I wore it growing up and how we wear it now. Working with my close friends and extended family on this project in LA was a powerful and personal experience. It allowed me to capture the beauty of our Brown brothers and sisters against the backdrop that is home to so many of us.”
The first pieces land on 8 May in select adidas stores, the CONFIRMED app and both partners’ websites, with the second drop set for 10 July.
