Helmut Lang Spring Summer 2022. Self-Portrait Series by Jet Swan

Inspired by Swan’s fresh take on exploring the female body – the brand employed her to take self-portraits in the Helmut Lang Spring Summer 2022 Collection. Swan has created striking images of the female torso to emphasize the special features of each garment. We see beautiful dimples, folds, and contours of the body (often hidden by retouching), mimicking the lines and contours of the fabric. These images assert that the clothes we wear are an extension of our physical form, and therefore should be as unique as the bodies they contain.

British artist Jet Swan (b.1990) is a striking new photographic voice making work out of a repurposed community hall in Ramsgate, Kent, where the artist lives and works. Swan creates intimate photographic spaces, contrasting private and tactile images of the body with photographs that skirt around the margins of conventional staged portraiture.
