Opening for the late summer calendar, the mainland boutique mounts an installation to celebrate the Qixi festival. Running from August 6th to September 11th, the Saint Laurent Rive Droite Beijing space sells all displayed photography by Chinese artist Lin Zhipeng under the curation of Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello.
Operating under the pseudonym No.223, Lin pulls the moniker from a character in the Wong Kar-wai film Chungking Express. The Guangdong-born photographer built an early audience through his North Latitude 23 blog. Launched in 2003, the digital platform paired everyday snapshots of youth culture with short text entries.
According to Saint Laurent, the printed portfolio captures "moments drawn from everyday life, reflecting the experiences, desires, and emotional ambiguities of a generation navigating a rapidly changing society." The French luxury house describes the layered compositions as being "imbued with a sense of carefree ease, playful innocence, and optimism."
Prior to this Qixi installation, Vaccarello integrated the image-maker into the 2022 Pink Matter group presentation across the Paris and Los Angeles Rive Droite locations. A solo layout followed in 2023. Outside of the retail network, international institutions including the Delaware Contemporary Museum, ICP New York, and MEP Paris have exhibited his work. Three Shadows +3 Gallery manages his broader portfolio representation in Beijing.
