For its Autumn Winter 2025/26 collection, HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE turns to the quiet grandeur of stones—how they form, shift, and take shape over time. Titled LITHOLOGY: The Curious Stones, the collection examines the textures, layers, and structures of rock formations, reinterpreting their natural evolution into garments with fluidity, depth, and sculptural ease.

The idea of accumulation, central to geology, manifests in AGATE, a print series inspired by the rich, striated layers found within stones. Created by layering paint and applying uneven pressure, the patterns mimic the organic unpredictability of nature—each piece, from tops to trousers to accessories, a kind of wearable cross-section of time itself.

Caves, where rock is shaped by erosion or volcanic activity, inform the CAVITY COAT. Its double-layered structure features dramatic side openings that can transform into oversized pockets when folded—a subtle nod to the way nature reconfigures itself over millennia.

Stone shapes, often softened by the elements, become the foundation of STONE CLOUD, a series of curved, modular garments designed to be layered and buttoned in various ways. There’s a looseness to the silhouettes, a lightness akin to a pebble smoothed by the tide.

Function meets form in QUARRY, a study of workwear worn in mines and excavation sites. The designs are practical, spare, and punctuated by generous pockets—clothing that considers both utility and movement.

Texture plays a role in WOOL LIKE LIGHT, where a mélange fabric with the depth of wool is crafted into coats, jackets, and trousers, each with a surface that subtly recalls rocky terrain. The collection rounds out with CASHMERE WINTER GEAR, a winter-ready series of balaclavas, scarves, and gloves, all built with a plush softness and shapes that can be arranged in multiple ways.

It’s an exercise in material storytelling—where the weight of stone is translated into something impossibly light, and the slow process of formation finds its place in the moment.
