D.S. & Durga launches Ain't That Sweet, an amber gourmand perfume built on myrrh and Sri Lankan cinnamon. Inside the bottle, the liquid replicates a late-night spread. A slice of dark malty date cake and a glass of golden milk sit on a kitchen counter beside a handwritten message, set out for a partner coming home at midnight.
Shifting past the opening spice, the structure descends into a sticky core blending lily with praline and date. To reflect the draw of New York City during the early 2000s, self-taught perfumer David Seth Moltz built the formula. He states the aroma channels the optimism of young couples and the yearly influx of hopefuls moving to town to chase a calling.
That nostalgic momentum ends with a dairy finish. Condensed milk, nutmeg, and bourbon vanilla ground the heavy dry-down. Pushing the project into an auditory format, the perfumer wrote an original party soul track to back the campaign. He says he treats audio and scent as parallel invisible arts, a multimedia approach driving the business the duo formed in 2008.
