Miu Miu’s Spring 2025 Nostalgic Yet Fresh Collection

Miuccia Prada has once again turned the fashion world on its head with Miu Miu‘s Spring/Summer 2025 show. Held at the Palais d’Iéna in Paris, the venue was transformed into a bustling newspaper printing press, courtesy of artist Goshka Macuga’s immersive installation titled “The Truthless Times.”

As guests settled on steel benches, they were enveloped by the sights and sounds of whirring conveyors and rolling printing presses displayed on giant screens. Overhead, freshly printed newspapers dangled, bearing cryptic headlines like “Archaeologists Digging for Answers Unearth Questions” and “Humanities Leader Says Man Should Follow, Not Lead.” Macuga’s work delved into themes of truth, misinformation, and the overwhelming flood of information in today’s world.

Amid this thought-provoking setting, models stepped out wearing looks that blurred the lines between childhood innocence and adult sophistication. The opening outfit was a simple white cotton dress, the kind you’d stumble upon in a vintage shop. It set the tone for a collection that felt both nostalgic and fresh.

The show explored the idea of spontaneity in dressing. Dresses were pulled down and folded in unconventional ways, sweaters became tops, and shirts were twisted as if the wearers had dressed in a hurry. “Wearing things in the wrong way,” Miuccia Prada mused backstage. “It was a way of being spontaneous.”

A collaboration with Petit Bateau saw classic childhood pieces reimagined, adding to the youthful vibe. Bloomers and oversized coats adorned with bold ’70s prints. The mix was eclectic yet cohesive, capturing the essence of a carefree spirit unburdened by convention.

Adding star power to the runway, celebrities like Alexa Chung, Cara Delevingne, Willem Dafoe, and Hilary Swank showcased the collection. Dafoe grinned in a navy coat, exuding charm, while Swank brought a touch of elegance in glossy outerwear. Their presence underscored Miu Miu’s knack for blending the unexpected with the iconic.

Accessories featured big sunglasses, soft suede bags, and brightly colored heels. The mostly neutral palette was punctuated with bursts of violet, red, pink, and blue, injecting vibrancy into the lineup. The overall feel was one of optimism and authenticity—a call to embrace simplicity in an age of excess.

Backstage, when asked about the connection between her collection and Macuga’s installation, Prada remarked, “We’re both part of the same world. They think their own way. I think my own way, but it always works because we are interested.”

The Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2025 show was more than just a display of new fashions; it was a commentary on finding truth in a chaotic world. By inviting us to see garments—and ourselves—in new ways, Miuccia Prada encourages a fresh perspective. It’s a reminder that sometimes, by altering the familiar just a bit, we can discover something entirely new.
