Sofia Coppola opens the festival with The Virgin Suicides as Chanel returns to support the open-air cinema event in Paris.

For the first time since its relocation from the Grand Palais, Chanel is once again supporting Cinema Paradiso, the open-air film festival held in the Cour Carrée of the Louvre. The event, organized by MK2, runs from July 2 to 5 and features a blend of cinema, music, and gastronomy.
Sofia Coppola, a longtime collaborator with Chanel, will open the festival by presenting a 25th-anniversary screening of her debut film, The Virgin Suicides. The film, known for its distinctive portrayal of adolescence, continues to resonate with audiences. Coppola’s relationship with Chanel includes directing the teaser for the brand’s most recent Cruise collection and the creation of the wedding dress worn by Cailee Spaeny in Coppola’s film Priscilla.
Chanel’s involvement in Cinema Paradiso reflects its ongoing commitment to the arts and cinema. Elsa Heizmann, Chanel’s global head of fashion’s relationship with cinema, noted that the house’s return to the project aligns with its broader belief in supporting cinema as an experience of wonder and sharing.

The festival’s programming includes screenings of Wong Kar-wai’s In the Mood for Love, a tribute to David Lynch with Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, and the public premiere of The Secret Agent by Kleber Mendonça Filho, who, along with actor Wagner Moura, will be present to introduce the film.
Cinema Paradiso at the Louvre offers free access to the public through an online lottery system, emphasizing inclusivity and community engagement. The event transforms the historic Cour Carrée into a communal space for film enthusiasts to gather and experience cinema in a unique setting.
