With €1.5 million up for grabs, Fondazione Prada’s new Film Fund is set to become indie cinema’s next essential resource, here’s how filmmakers can secure their share.

Fondazione Prada is stepping into cinema in a major way, launching the Fondazione Prada Film Fund to support innovative independent filmmaking. With an annual investment of €1.5 million beginning this fall, the initiative continues Fondazione Prada’s two-decade exploration of cinema as an essential cultural space, fueling originality and experimentation across the globe.
Led by Paolo Moretti, the curator behind Fondazione Prada’s Cinema Godard program and former head of Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, the Fund aims to back ten to twelve films every year through development, production, and post-production stages. Applicants face no restrictions on geography or genre—the only benchmarks are vision, originality, and creative strength.

Miuccia Prada, the visionary behind the Fondazione, emphasized cinema’s role as both a “laboratory for new ideas” and an important platform for cultural learning. Working alongside international experts, including film curator Rebecca De Pas, the Fund will maintain editorial independence, aiming for a broad yet rigorous selection process that gives equal footing to established auteurs and emerging talents.
