London-based composer and vocalist Klein has released My Own Fairytale, a 12-track album that arrived without advance announcement. A new video for “Man in the Mirror,” a song she released in July, accompanies the record.
The mostly instrumental album is described in a press statement as Klein’s “take on a dark Disney soundtrack.”
Composer and violinist Sasha Scott co-wrote and co-arranged “Siren Reloaded,” the album’s longest track at just over nine minutes. Scott also worked on Klein’s concert piece Siren, which premiered with the London Sinfonietta at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw on June 20 during Holland Festival.
Klein performs at London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts on September 30, with support from South London rapper Angel Gray.
