Draga & Aurel are lighting up Design Miami once again, taking Lucite to bold new heights. The Italian duo—Draga Obradovic and Aurel K. Basedow—returns for a third year with Todd Merrill Studio, unveiling a collection that bends light and color in ways that feel almost otherworldly.
Building on last year’s Flare series, they’ve introduced a lineup of lamps, a dining table, and a sideboard that transform spaces into immersive experiences. Crafted by hand with artisans from Lake Como, these pieces blur the line between art and design, inviting you to see everyday objects through a fresh lens.
Exclusively available at Todd Merrill Studio in New York City, the Ribbon pendant lamp, Flare dining table, and Flare sideboard aren’t just furniture—they’re statements.
Flare Dining Table
The Flare dining table is a sculptural marvel made entirely of Lucite. Inspired by the color explorations of artists like Jiyong Lee and Vasa Mihich, it layers sheets of colored acrylic in varying shapes and thicknesses. The result? A tabletop that seems to hold floating bursts of color, refracting light in mesmerizing patterns. It’s not just a table; it’s an ever-changing artwork.
Flare Sideboard
Mixing reflective metal with transparent acrylic, the Flare sideboard is all about contrasts. Its curved metal frame frames doors made from interlocking Lucite sheets, creating a spectrum of hypnotic colors and depths. Light dances through gradients and neon highlights, giving the piece a weightless feel as it hovers on Lucite legs. It’s storage reimagined as a centerpiece.
Ribbon Pendant Lamp
Envision a flowing ribbon of acrylic gracefully draped over a glowing core. The Ribbon lamp marries precise geometry with fluid curves, capturing light in dynamic ways. Neon hues seem to float within its transparent form, while seamless opaline accents enhance its ethereal vibe. It’s a piece that shifts and changes with every angle, offering a new perspective each time you look.
