Louis Vuitton has once again pushed the boundaries of luxury design with its latest Objets Nomades exhibition at Design Miami in Paris. The showcase celebrated 40 years of innovation by Brazilian design duo Estúdio Campana, highlighting a decade-long collaboration that has redefined contemporary furniture.
The centerpiece of the exhibition was a fresh take on the iconic Cocoon Chair, originally crafted by Humberto Campana in 2015. This time, the chair emerged in six new editions inspired by Brazilian folklore. Each piece featured intricate textures and embellishments, meticulously crafted by Louis Vuitton’s artisans, echoing the natural landscapes and cultural motifs of Brazil.
Visitors were also treated to a retrospective of standout pieces from the partnership. The cloud-like Bomboca sofa from 2017 made a comeback, alongside the sculptural Bulbo chair introduced in 2019. The Maracatu cabinet, one of Estúdio Campana’s inaugural works for the Objets Nomades collection in 2012, was also on display, reminding guests of the rich history between the designers and the fashion house.
Adding to the excitement was the debut of the Cabinet Kaléidoscope. This trompe l’œil masterpiece required over 200 hours of craftsmanship and incorporated more than 500 pieces of vibrant leather. The result was a mesmerizing blend of color and form that captivated all who saw it.
Beyond the main exhibition, the Louis Vuitton Apartment offered an immersive dive into the brand’s world. The space featured innovative seating and decor by designers like Frank Chou, Raw Edges, and Zanellato/Bortotto. Signature trunks, lush fabrics, curated books, and artistic vases were thoughtfully arranged, creating an environment that was both luxurious and inviting.
This exhibition not only honored Estúdio Campana’s four decades of groundbreaking work but also reaffirmed Louis Vuitton’s commitment to melding traditional craftsmanship with forward-thinking design. The Objets Nomades collection continues to be a testament to the brand’s dedication to creating pieces that are as functional as they are artistic, setting new standards in the world of luxury furnishings.
