Dover Street Market London reveals a window installation designed by Rei Kawakubo featuring Cindy Sherman’s photography, presented in collaboration with Ursula Magazine.

Rei Kawakubo, the founder of COMME des GARÇONS, has long understood the power of a store window as an artistic platform. Her latest project at Dover Street Market London, created in partnership with artist Cindy Sherman and Hauser & Wirth’s Ursula Magazine, transforms the store’s façade into an intimate exhibition space.

Sherman’s featured photographs abandon elaborate staging, centering solely on the human face. Through collage and digital manipulation of her own features, Sherman assembles compellingly ambiguous identities. These fragmented portraits prompt viewers to reconsider the concept of self, highlighting its plasticity and endless layers.
Kawakubo’s presentation contextualizes Sherman’s provocative images within Dover Street Market’s influential retail environment, elevating everyday commerce into a site of artistic inquiry.
