Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti debut PM23, their new cultural space in Rome’s Piazza Mignanelli, opening to the public on May 25, 2025.

Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti have launched PM23, their long-awaited cultural space in Rome, just steps from the historic atelier where Valentino first presented his collection in 1959. Named simply after its address, Piazza Mignanelli 23, the foundation quietly signals the duo’s evolution from fashion visionaries into stewards of artistic legacy. Its first exhibition, “Horizons-Red,” curated by Pamela Golbin and Anna Coliva, elegantly bridges couture with art. It is a fitting inaugural statement for a space devoted to redefining the boundaries between fashion and culture.

The exhibition explores Valentino’s lifelong connection to the color red, threading archival gowns alongside contemporary artworks from influential creators such as Jeff Koons, Gerhard Richter, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Structured across five thematic sections, from the introspective “Red and Identity” to the surreal “Oneiric Horizons,” the presentation fluidly moves between past and present. The show underscores red’s powerful emotional resonance within Valentino’s work.

Beginning this spring, PM23 will serve as a dynamic platform for Fondazione Valentino Garavani e Giancarlo Giammetti’s broader cultural initiatives. “Two exhibitions a year,” Mr. Giammetti explained, “and in the months between exhibitions, the focus will shift to education to support emerging artists, creatives, and those who aspire to work in fashion to empower the next generation.”
PM23 opens to the public on May 25, 2025, with “Horizons-Red” running through October. Further details, visiting hours, and future events are available at piazzamignanelli23.com.
