Olivier Rousteing continues to redefine Balmain with a fearless blend of glamour and streetwear edge. His latest men’s resort collection pays tribute to his tenure, weaving his own handwritten notes and signature biker elements directly into the designs.
The 2025 resort lineup takes Balmain’s iconic tailored silhouettes and flips them with surreal trompe l’oeil graphics. Sharp-shouldered suits return in monochrome, but now cropped blazers are spliced with panels from leather motorcycle jackets and faded denim truckers. Solid trousers feature printed illusions of Rousteing’s famed biker jeans, while tops display fragmented images of Balmain’s motorcycle jackets.
Amidst the visual play, a charcoal grey tee stands out with elegant draping that echoes the attire of ancient Greek and Roman statues. Midway through the 46-look collection, Rousteing’s cursive script becomes a focal point—first enlarged, then minimized into gradients of micro scribbles.
Staying true to his maximalist instincts, the collection culminates with bold statements. A second-skin long-sleeve dazzles with iridescent sequins forming a sculpted male torso. Rousteing’s handwriting makes a dramatic appearance as polished brass embellishments intertwine through the bodice and sleeves of a sleek black blazer. Oversized strokes spelling out words like “Amor” trace along lapels and collars, enveloping the garments.
The finale pays homage to Balmain’s classic black-and-gold heritage, serving as a heartfelt love letter from Rousteing to the house he’s shaped for over a decade. This collection not only celebrates his legacy but also pushes forward, blending tradition with a modern, unapologetic flair.
