Sies Marjan’s Sander Lak Launches a Menswear Brand

Backed by angel investors, Sander Lak’s latest project targets a growing menswear market.

Sander Lak is stepping back into the spotlight with Sanderlak, a luxury label rooted in menswear and open to every wardrobe. The Central Saint Martins graduate—best known for the now-closed New York brand Sies Marjan—will introduce the line during Paris Men’s Fashion Week later this month, staging private appointments rather than a public show.

Lak’s path to this moment runs through Antwerp and Manhattan. After honing his skills at Dries Van Noten, he moved to New York, where he founded Sies Marjan in 2016 with support from investors Howard and Nancy Marks, the backers of Ralph Rucci’s couture house before his 2014 exit.

This time, a group of angel investors is funding the venture. Their bet: a men’s category that remains less crowded than women’s ready-to-wear and has expanded faster than the wider luxury market since the pandemic—even as overall demand cools.

Headquartered in New York, Sanderlak will release two collections a year. For its Paris debut, buyers will view the clothes behind closed doors—a low-key launch that lets Lak focus attention on the product rather than the spectacle.
