Summary

New York City almost looked very different in 1908. That year, Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí sketched plans for the Hotel Attraction, a futuristic tower that never made it off the drafting table. Lebond Watches revisits this ghost project to mark a century since the master builder passed away.

His organic style informs the Lebond Attraction’s casing, which mimics a river stone smoothed by water. The sandblasted Grade 5 Titanium shell keeps the weight low, hitting the scale at a scant 33 grams.

Such featherweight metal houses a dial configured to look like a birds-eye view of the unbuilt skyscraper. Brushed rotating discs play with shadow, while an exhibition back displays the ETA 2892-A2 automatic caliber underneath the original architectural blueprints.

These technical drawings spring into three dimensions with an optional case made from solid sapele wood. Standing 42cm tall, the sculpture replicates the tower’s catenary curves, offering a home for the watch which comes in either brushed silver or anthracite finishes.
