Gaia Repossi
Gaia Repossi has redefined what it means to lead a family legacy into the present. Taking the reins at just 21, she transformed Repossi—the storied Italian jewelry house founded by her great-grandfather in 1920—from classic heritage to cutting-edge cool. Born in Turin and raised across Monaco, Italy, and France, Gaia’s mix of cultures is reflected in her boundary-pushing vision. Armed with a background in painting and archaeology from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, she brought a fresh, minimalist approach to jewelry design that resonates with the modern wearer.
Since stepping in as creative and artistic director in 2007, Gaia’s focus has been on redefining luxury by stripping it back—sculptural silhouettes and pavé diamonds have replaced the grandiose stones of the past. Her designs, which draw from the worlds of architecture and art, have graced red carpets and catwalks, making them an understated favorite of fashion insiders. Gaia’s collaborations with designers like Joseph Altuzarra and Alexander Wang have only added to her relevance in the industry, blurring the lines between fine jewelry and ready-to-wear.
Under her direction, Repossi has seen a renaissance, culminating in a partnership with LVMH in 2015 when the luxury giant acquired a minority stake in the business. It wasn’t just about investment—Gaia’s relationship with Delphine Arnault, one of LVMH’s most powerful voices, has been pivotal in cementing Repossi’s place in the high jewelry conversation. The reopening of their Place Vendôme flagship in 2016, with its striking Rem Koolhaas-designed staircase, was a statement: Repossi is a brand that honors its roots while firmly looking forward. Today, Gaia continues to push the envelope, making Repossi’s heritage resonate with a new generation.
