Natacha Ramsay-Levi is a designer whose path through the fashion industry reads like a masterclass in creative evolution. After stepping out from the formidable shadow of Nicolas Ghesquière, Ramsay-Levi came into her own at Chloé, where she redefined what it meant to be a Chloé girl. Her tenure at Chloé, from 2017 to late 2020, was marked by an intricate weaving of romance and a powerful silhouette—subtle, but never coy—that spoke to women navigating their complexities in the 21st century.

A Paris native, Ramsay-Levi’s fashion education was an unusual blend of intellectualism and industry. She read History at Paris 8 University, a choice that perhaps informs the storytelling evident in her collections, before transitioning to Studio Berçot for a more tactile dive into design. After an internship at Balenciaga in 2002, she quickly rose through the ranks, evolving into Nicolas Ghesquière’s right hand—a position she carried with her when Ghesquière moved to Louis Vuitton in 2013. There, she honed her skills until the opportunity at Chloé called.

Her debut collection for Spring/Summer 2018 introduced a Chloé aesthetic that was tough, personal, and distinctly hers. Gone were the ethereal, wispy looks, replaced with a grounded femininity—unafraid to be sweet, but equally unafraid to challenge convention. Ramsay-Levi infused her designs with a contemporary relevance, often drawing on vintage undertones and juxtaposing the iconic Chloé breeziness with a measured sense of edge.

Since stepping down from Chloé in December 2020, Ramsay-Levi has taken a step back from the hectic demands of helming a major fashion house, choosing to focus on other projects that speak to her ethos of thoughtful creativity. Amid the ever-changing landscape of fashion, her work continues to resonate—a testament to her time-tested ability to balance delicacy with depth, and instinct with intent.
