Nick Knight stands as a visionary force in the realm of fashion imagery and the mastermind behind SHOWstudio, a trailblazing digital platform dedicated to showcasing the creative process in fashion from start to finish. Knight, a pioneer in embracing digital film to capture fashion’s dynamism, has solidified his position as one of the industry’s most influential figures.

SHOWstudio, under Knight’s direction, has become a collaborative hub for fashion’s elite, including John Galliano, Kate Moss, Rick Owens, and Comme des Garçons, as well as a launchpad for emerging talents like Giles Deacon and Mary Katrantzou, providing a vital platform for new voices in design.

Knight’s photographic journey commenced with the publication of “Skinheads” in 1982 during his time at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design. His compelling black-and-white portraits for i-D magazine’s fifth anniversary issue catapulted him into the spotlight, leading to a groundbreaking collaboration with Yohji Yamamoto and graphic designer Peter Saville.

Since then, Knight’s lens has captured the essence of brands like Alexander McQueen and Christian Dior, alongside editorial contributions to Vogue, Dazed & Confused, and i-D. His innovative approach to photography has also seen him create iconic album covers for artists including Björk, David Bowie, and Lady Gaga.

In 2001, Knight expanded his creative repertoire to directing music videos, including Björk’s “Pagan Poetry” and Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” His work has been celebrated in exhibitions at prestigious venues like the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Saatchi Gallery, and through publications such as “Nicknight” and “Flora.”

Knight’s contributions to the field were officially recognized in 2010 when he was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). Residing in London with his wife, Charlotte, and their three children, Knight continues to inspire and challenge the conventions of fashion and photography.
