COACH Spring Summer 2022

COACH Spring Summer 2022 collection debuts with the house’s return to the runway in New York City and a special episode of “Coach TV: Public Access” made in collaboration with Coach Family. This new chapter of Stuart Vevers’ vision for the house celebrates the shared progressive attitude of Coach’s first head designer Bonnie Cashin—the creative pioneer behind the iconic turnlock—and the next generation. An expression of the role Coach has played in shaping the legacy of American style, the collection explores ready-to-wear and bags from Cashin’s archives reimagined with Vevers’ vision of American classics, subverted through the lens of now.

Presented on a cast of new faces who represent the energy, diversity and spirit of the next generation, the collection is a love letter to New York that pays tribute to city institutions like Central Park, Zabar’s, Serendipity and the Brooklyn Bridge and the role the city continues to play in inspiring people all over the world. It also introduces a tote crafted in collaboration with local independent craftspeople as a way of supporting and giving back to New York’s fashion community.

As part of the house’s commitment to sustainability and pieces made to last, the COACH Spring Summer 2022 collection also debuts updates of the Cashin Carry Tote in environmentally responsible leather and leather crafted of upcycled baseball gloves, together with upcycled denim ready-to-wear and reimagined vintage Bonnie Cashin outerwear.

Held at Hudson River Park’s Pier 76, a new park on Manhattan’s west side where Coach were the first to hold a fashion show, the experience opened with the next episode of Coach TV, this time inspired by public access television and its inclusive, communal approach to programming. It was followed by the COACH Spring Summer 2022 collection film, aired simultaneously with the live runway presentation in an ingenious breaking of the fourth wall and beamed live to audiences around the world. A post-show recap will follow with additional Coach TV content over the coming days.

“Spring presents my vision of a new vocabulary of American fashion inspired by our 80-year heritage through the lens of the next generation,” said Vevers. “A celebration, too, of the colorful, upbeat optimism of Coach’s first designer Bonnie Cashin, it’s a collection I designed in response to the times we are living through—and a collective wish for a better, brighter future.”

To create this season’s episode of “Coach TV: Public Access,” Coach collaborated with directors Ty Evans and Danielle Aphrodite Nemet and writers Amber Schaefer and Yoni Lotan, as well as  members of the Coach Family including Ramla Ali, Jon Batiste, Brother Bin, Quen Blackwell, Bob the Drag Queen, Quincy Brown, Miles Chamley-Watson, Sonia Chew, Fazura, Joe Flizzow, Harry Hill, Boo Johnson, Chaka Khan, Stella Maxwell, Luna Maya, Megan Thee Stallion, Ellie Thumann, Camila Morrone, Brittany O’Grady, Cameron Palatas, Will Peltz, Rainey Qualley, Utica Queen, Rickey Thompson, Lolo Zouaï, and Ziwe—with appearances by Jennifer Lopez, Michael B.
