Chanel enters the print world with a cultural magazine shaped by artists, ideas, and a global point of view.

In celebration of its UK centenary, Chanel has launched its first dedicated Arts & Culture Magazine, a lush, visually driven publication crafted under the guidance of the brand’s Culture Fund and Yana Peel, Chanel’s president of arts, culture, and heritage. Simply titled Vol. 1, the magazine highlights Chanel’s collaborations with artists, institutions, and cultural figures over the past five years.
To mark the occasion, Chanel has taken over the iconic Foreign Exchange News in London’s Bayswater neighborhood, creating a temporary installation that runs until June 28. But this launch is more than a local affair, Chanel’s Arts & Culture Magazine will be available across 22 bookstores worldwide, including Tenderbooks and Rococo News & Magazines in London, RIPE Mags in Glasgow, and other specialty stores from Berlin and New York to Seoul and Mexico City.

At 250 pages, Vol. 1 is designed to look and feel substantial, featuring varied paper textures and contributions from contemporary artists and thought leaders, all sharing their visions for the future. The cover image, shot by photographer Roe Ethridge, cleverly blends the brand’s past and present: a bronze bust of Gabrielle Chanel by sculptor Jacques Lipchitz from 1921 wears metallic sunglasses from Chanel’s Fall 2002 runway collection.

The publication also explores subtle visual nods to Gabrielle Chanel’s personal legacy, including imagery of pearls, seashells, and lion motifs, symbols intimately tied to the house’s founder. Yet, the magazine is decisively forward-looking, reflecting Chanel’s commitment to contemporary culture and its ongoing dialogue with global creativity.
Vol. 1 is now available through June 28 at Foreign Exchange News in London, and in select bookstores globally, including Tenderbooks, Rococo News & Magazines, and RIPE Mags in Glasgow, as well as locations in Berlin, New York, Seoul, Mexico City, and beyond.
