At Annroy Studios in London, photographer Rankin, one of the original founders of Dazed & Confused, presents FAIK OFF, an exhibition and accompanying magazine that delve into the intersection of artificial intelligence and creative expression. Running through May 18, the show invites visitors to explore a collection of AI-generated images and texts that question the role of human authorship in an era increasingly influenced by machine learning.

FAIK OFF is the culmination of a nine-month project during which Rankin utilized AI tools like Midjourney and ChatGPT to produce a 420-page publication. The endeavor was not an embrace of AI’s capabilities but a critical examination of its impact on the creative process. Rankin describes the experience as both liberating and unsettling, noting that the ease of generating content with AI led to a sense of creative disconnection.

The exhibition features works that blur the lines between human and machine-made art, prompting viewers to consider the implications of AI in creative industries. Rankin’s initiative also highlights concerns about authorship and the ethical use of AI, especially regarding the uncredited use of existing creative works by AI systems.

FAIK OFF is open daily from 12 to 7 pm at Annroy Studios, 110–114 Grafton Road, London NW5 4BA. Admission is free, and attendees can receive a complimentary copy of the limited-edition FAIK magazine during the exhibition period.
