A celebration of Black fashion heritage and modern tailoring, these Met Gala looks nailed both meaning and execution.

Through expertly tailored suits, grandiose gowns, and twists, the 2025 Met Gala theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” saw fashion’s boldest names remixing heritage with fresh cuts, turning the steps of the Met into a cultural runway. Amid a sea of opulence and intention, it was a night that spoke volumes about identity, creativity, and boundary-pushing style.

Doechii delivered one of the evening’s sharpest statements, stepping out in a Louis Vuitton logomania suit that felt like a love letter to Harlem Renaissance sophistication—complete with a perfectly perched afro and a rich burgundy bowtie. Lewis Hamilton, co-hosting the gala, embodied cool minimalism in ivory Grace Wales Bonner, accented by a French beret. Lupita Nyong’o took Chanel couture to new heights, her pastel green cape and bedazzled brows artfully merging avant-garde playfulness with classic elegance. Rihanna’s entry, in pinstriped Marc Jacobs complete with pearls and a sweeping hat, elegantly referenced Josephine Baker while effortlessly debuting baby bump number three.

But the Met’s magic wasn’t limited to classic couture—Andre 3000‘s unforgettable piano-sculpted suit blurred the lines between wearable art and performance, turning his entrance into a surrealist serenade. Damson Idris also captured attention, dramatically shedding a Swarovski-studded racing suit to reveal a striking tartan tuxedo beneath, an homage to his recent Formula 1 film reveal. Nearby, Zendaya channeled sophisticated ’70s drama in a sleek white Louis Vuitton suit and floppy hat, radiating a timeless coolness, while Jennie Kim gracefully fused Chanel’s historical charm with modern whimsy, draped in pearls.

From Jodie Turner-Smith’s platinum-tinted Burberry elegance to Teyana Taylor’s Harlem-inspired Marc Jacobs moment, each look on the carpet told stories far beyond fabric and form. Willy Chavarria and Dapper Dan each brought their distinctive styles to the table, capturing the significance of tailoring being as much about the story behind the stitches as the silhouette itself. Take a look at the night’s standout looks that defined the 2025 Met Gala.
