All-white Smooth and Virginia leather gives MM6’s second outing with Dr. Martens a clean slate, backed by embossed logos and bump toes.
The dialogue between MM6 Maison Margiela and Dr. Martens continues this month with a second footwear capsule that compresses two generations of style thinking into two pointedly hybrid shoes. The Paris label’s penchant for deconstruction meets the British maker’s durable DNA, turning tried-and-tested shapes into puzzles in polished leather.
First up is a fusion of Dr. Martens’ 1460 8-eye boot and 1461 3-eye shoe. Presented entirely in white Smooth and Virginia leather, the style keeps the 1460’s ankle height but ends with the 1461’s rounded quarters, adding a pronounced bump toe, an embossed MM6 numeric logo on the shaft, and a white AirWair loop. The finish recalls the paint-saturated boots that anchored MM6’s spring-summer 2025 runway, bringing that backstage gesture to retail.
The second design starts with the 1461 shoe and folds in the Penton loafer, resulting in a lace-up that can be slipped on. Tonal welt stitching and the familiar bouncing sole hold the mix together while underlining Dr. Martens’ workshop craft. Where the first style splices boot and derby, this one feels more like a shoe nesting inside another shoe—an optical trick that lands at the heart of MM6’s subversive playbook.
Both pairs arrive in stark white, a choice that signals MM6’s long-running study of blankness and underlines the capsule’s intent to reset expectations. The drop lands July 17 on the brands’ websites, in selected flagships, and through key multi-brand stockists.
