Aletta’s Paper Cotton Coat Is A Real Page-Turner

Aletta, the brainchild of Central Saint Martins alumni Freddy Coomes and Matt Empringham, is redefining fashion with their avant-garde approach. Their latest creation, the paper cotton coat, exemplifies this ethos. Developed in collaboration with 3D designer Romi, the coat merges the tactile comfort of cotton with the architectural intrigue of paper-like structure. This innovative piece challenges traditional garment construction, offering a fresh perspective on materiality and form.

Since their official launch in January 2025, Aletta has been making waves in the fashion scene. Their debut collection for Dover Street Market featured a reinterpretation of the classic polo shirt, transforming it into structured silk polo dresses adorned with vibrant stripes. This collection not only showcased their design prowess but also their commitment to pushing boundaries while maintaining wearability. The paper cotton coat, part of their Fall 2025 lineup, continues this narrative, blending experimental design with practical appeal.

The creative process behind the paper cotton coat is a testament to Aletta’s collaborative spirit. Working closely with 3D designer Romi, Coomes and Empringham explored the fusion of digital design techniques with traditional craftsmanship. This synergy resulted in a coat that is both a visual statement and a tactile experience.
