Balenciaga PUMA Rework the 1999 Speedcat

Balenciaga and PUMA recast the Speedcat as a sock-like sneaker and satin flat, anchoring a line of gabber-shot tracksuits set to launch today.

Launching today, the Balenciaga | PUMA collection—first shown during Balenciaga’s Winter 25 presentation—joins the house’s design language with PUMA’s performance history.

The campaign, photographed by Ari Versluis, whose Exactitudes series shaped Demna’s Spring 26 lookbook, features models Diede, Tianee, Brooks, Yav, and Joe. In stills and videos styled with Winter 25 pieces, the cast performs high-energy gabber routines to Françoise Hardy’s “Tous Les Garçons et Les Filles,” setting movement against a calm soundtrack.

Footwear leads the story. The Destroyed Speedcat pares back PUMA’s 1999 driving sneaker, leaving a pliable sock-like upper and a clipped Formstrip first sketched in 1958. A leather slip-on removes laces altogether, while the Balenciaga | PUMA Ballerina folds the Speedcat shape into a satin flat.

Apparel follows suit. Extra-dry molleton sweatsuits carry a Balenciaga lion crest that nods to classic football warm-ups. Nylon tracksuits, offered in crisp and faded washes, revive 1990s PUMA trims. A shearling jacket cut like a tracksuit top and a trompe-l’œil suede bathrobe coat extend the partnership into outerwear. Hoodies, tees, and shorts land in fitted, medium, and oversized cuts, each stamped with joint branding.

The collection reaches selected Balenciaga stores and balenciaga.com.
