Burberry closed out London’s latest fashion circuit with a show that channeled countryside daydreams into the heart of Tate Britain. The front row buzzed with famous faces—Kim Cattrall, Skepta, Nicholas Hoult, Lauryn Hill—while a handful of film stars stepped onto the runway itself. Daniel Lee, in his continued effort to refine Burberry’s heritage, ventured deep into rural inspirations for Winter 2025, overlaying classic silhouettes with intriguing fabric choices and artful prints.

“We folded country house interiors into contemporary dress codes; and fused weather-shielding fabrics with elaborate wall-hangings,” Lee said, referencing the stately-home motifs that guided many of his design ideas. It’s the latest evolution of Burberry’s ongoing support of British arts and culture—this time, the brand highlighted its one-year partnership with Tate, which helps preserve priceless works at the museum’s renowned conservation studios.
Lee doubled down on the notion that the real spark of invention comes when you swap a formal room’s tapestries or wallpaper for outerwear details. “There’s a deliberate tension and interplay between indoors furnishing fabrics – now seen outdoors,” he explained. Despite the gentle nod to tradition, the collection looked fresh, and the mix of weekend getaways with refined tailoring felt purposeful, not forced. “Think of them as weekend escapees. It’s that great Friday night exodus from London to the countryside for long rainy walks and to disconnect in the great outdoors. It’s day-trips to grand stately homes,” Lee offered as a vision for the new lineup.

The runway featured everything from reworked trenches to plush capes, all updated with relaxed, countryside flair. Subtle checks peeked out under jackets, while bohemian details—like layered fringe and playful takes on knitwear—added warmth. “It’s that slightly eccentric, somewhat bohemian need to travel – weekend luggage, included,” Lee joked, alluding to the restless spirit of city-dwellers in pursuit of open air. Even the décor inside Tate Britain evoked the mood of a mansion left on pause for a weekend escapade.
While Burberry remains anchored in tradition, Lee is clearly comfortable exploring new terrain. The show served as a testament to Burberry’s ability to bridge past and present with style to spare.
