Loewe turns its spotlight on the Lunar New Year with a capsule inspired by Chinese cloisonné. Once a royal craft, cloisonné involves molding metal wires into fluid motifs, then filling them with pigmented glass paste for a polished finish. Now, Loewe enlists third-generation enameller Xiong Songtao—hailed as a Master of Chinese Arts and Crafts—to bring that flair to the Year of the Snake.
A cloisonné snake head and lotus flourish on a new Nest bag, while pendants capture auspicious symbols like the snake, monkey, and cloud. The ready-to-wear lineup mirrors these touches with subtle nods to metalwork and swirling shapes. Expect the Puzzle and Pebble Bucket bags to pop up in fresh silhouettes, detailed with sculptural clouds and snake-like chains.
Tying it all together is a short film called “Spring Awakening: Dance of the Snake.” Contemporary dancer Xie Xin—joined by her troupe—channels the new season through movement, shadow puppetry by artist Danno, and kite craft from Zhang Xiaodong, who represents Weifang’s heritage art. Together, they spin the tale of a lone snake welcomed by other forest creatures, celebrating renewal and hope.
