‘SIMPLIFY, EXPAND, FLATTEN’

‘Simplifying expression through complex thinking.
This season, I considered how lines, forms, and ornaments could be freed from conventional techniques and introduced two dimensional forms into techniques normally used to create three-dimensions. I applied the lines painter Tomoo Gokita used to delineate the female figure to flatten the shoulders, sleeves, and ruffles of a dress, which in turn features a reproduction of the painting.’
