Gucci Brings a Festive Vibe to Miami with Immersive Installation

Gucci kicks off the holiday season in style with an immersive experience at Sweet Bird North Plaza, right in the heart of Miami’s Design District. On display until January 7, this festive installation draws from the House’s rich heritage, evoking both nostalgia and whimsy—a playful nod to Gucci’s travel-inspired roots.

Picture an enchanted snow globe, only life-sized and Gucci-fied. This installation intertwines elements of Gucci’s story, from founder Guccio Gucci’s days as a porter at The Savoy in London—where those first glimpses of elegant luggage set him on the path to create his iconic boutique in Florence—to the brand’s evolution into a global force. Against a backdrop of meticulously crafted miniature buildings, Gucci’s storied trunks and luggage—embossed with the unmistakable GG monogram—come to life. There are iconic touchstones too: from Florence’s Palazzo Gucci to New York’s Wooster Street, Paris’s Avenue Montaigne, and London’s New Bond Street, the installation touches all the bases of Gucci’s history.

Adding to the spectacle, Sweet Bird North Plaza is also home to an expanded Gucci takeover featuring Art Walls by American artist Corydon Cowansage. Known for her lush compositions that float between abstraction and figuration, Cowansage adapted one of her previous works for the occasion. Her murals, set between the square and Gucci’s boutique, bring vibrant biomorphic shapes—think lips floating and provocatively distorted—to life against a pale blue background. The vibe is playful yet assertive, echoing the spirit of trailblazing women artists like Judy Chicago and Zilia Sanchez. It’s all in line with Cowansage’s participation at Miami Art Basel, where her works will be featured at the Kaufmann Repetto booth starting December 4.

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, Gucci has also illuminated the façade of Palazzo Gucci in Florence, creating a cross-continental celebration—from Miami to Italy. The Florentine lights will stay up until January 17, a glowing tribute to Gucci’s roots and the enduring magic of the holidays.
