Glenn Martens is a designer who thrives on reinvention. Known for his fearless approach, Martens has brought a fresh energy to Diesel since becoming creative director in 2020. Originally from Bruges, Belgium, and a graduate of Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Martens previously led Y/Project, turning it into one of the most talked-about labels in Paris before stepping down in September 2024. His work is defined by an ability to blend the avant-garde with the accessible, always pushing the limits of what fashion can be.

At Diesel, Martens has embraced the brand’s rebellious spirit and taken it further, transforming classic denim into something surprising and new. His collections are a bold exploration of craft and experimentation—whether it’s reinterpreting denim with unexpected techniques or creating audacious spectacles that demand attention. Martens has reinvigorated Diesel’s DNA, making it a brand for the here and now, with a nod to its rich history of provocative campaigns.

In January 2025, Martens was appointed as the creative director of Maison Margiela, succeeding John Galliano. He expressed feeling “extremely honored to join the amazing Maison Margiela, a truly unique house that has been inspiring the world for decades.” Martens will continue his role at Diesel while leading Maison Margiela, both of which are owned by OTB Group.
